Kehte Deer belongs to the Mohawk Nation and the Bear Clan; and illustrated by Odadrihonyanisoh, Sara General, who belongs to the Turtle Clan and the Mohawk Nation. The story is written entirely in the Cayuga language, using beginner vocabulary and colourful imagery to introduce family words and a new verb root “nǫhkwa”: which means “to love or care for”. This book also contains an introductory grammar lesson for educators and parents, as well as a list of new vocabulary.
